Quilt with Ease: Top Basting Spray Picks for Perfect Projects

Ever find a step in the quilting process you’d rather skip? For me, it’s basting! But, worry not! I’ve found a game changer: The Odif USA 505 Spray. I usually grab them in 6 packs because they’re super-sized and last a while.

Following the instructions, I sprayed a fine mist on the back of my quilt top. Sounds like a breeze, right? But first, safety first! ️ I slid open my patio door for ventilation and spread out newspapers to catch any drift.

To play it safe, I began with the quilt backing. I sprayed the non-visible side and folded it (design sides facing each other) to take it to the batting. Upstairs, the adventure began.

As I attempted to lay the backing onto the batting, I got a bit, well… tangled. Picture a scene from a cartoon where everything sticks to everything else! That’s me! But, the best part? The spray sticks superbly and can be adjusted without losing its grip. Yes, my first attempt was a tad clumsy, but practice makes perfect.

A gentle mist is all it takes. Trust me, no need to drench! Too much spray might gum up your sewing needles. I experimented with different amounts and every single time, the hold was fabulous. Whether hand or machine quilting, this spray never lets you down.

One of my fun tests was quilting the alphabet on a Tumbling Block wall hanging. It was quick and revealed that the adhesive’s effect on fabric is minimal. For machine quilting, I gave the spray a tougher challenge by using a walking foot. The grip? Impeccable! I even removed stitches to see if the quilt would pucker or pull away – it didn’t.

Quick Gina Tips:
1. Avoid super-fine synthetic fabrics.
2. Always check fabric colorfastness.
3. Use on projects you’ll finish soon.
4. Ensure proper ventilation when spraying.
5. Less is more – spray lightly!

Can’t stand basting? Give the Odif quilt basting spray a go. It’s a total time-saver and a fantastic alternative to basting guns.
