Hey fellow quilting enthusiasts, it’s Gina here! When I stumbled upon the Eleanor Burns Signature Edition of the Elna 6003 Q Quilter’s Dream, I was buzzing with curiosity. I mean, what sort of machine would the iconic Eleanor Burns of PBS’s “Quilt in a Day” series vouch for? It had to be user-centric, all about the patchwork, and free from unnecessary bling, right? And guess what? The Elna 6003Q Quilter’s Dream didn’t disappoint!
The Quilter’s Dream lives up to its name. It’s every quilter’s fantasy come true. I experimented with its 1/4″ foot and to my delight, it was a perfect scant 1/4″, ensuring impeccable piecing.
Diving deeper, I played with both the walking foot and darning foot. What’s cool is that Elna introduced a speed control right on the front, making it a breeze to adjust your pace without altering your foot pedal pressure. Such a thoughtful feature for us quilters! ➡️
And oh, the automatic tension? A dream! I hopped from piecing, to quilting, to machine applique, using a variety of threads. The result? Uniform stitches regardless of whether I used cotton, quilting, invisible, or even metallic thread. And the best part? No tension tampering needed!
The real show-stopper was witnessing the Elna 6003Q ace machine applique. The satin and blanket stitches were unmatched, even outshining some of the pricier competitors.
For those considering another option, do check out the Juki TL2010. It’s a gem and one of my top picks. But back to our Elna – it’s user-friendly, everything’s clear as day and within arm’s reach. Pop open the flip top, and you’re greeted with a control panel, revealing 42 stitches, and guidance on presser foot selections. ✂️
Let’s talk storage. The upper compartment is like a mini treasure chest, packed with seven standard feet, needle storage, and more. Elna’s thoughtful design also includes a spool holder, bobbin winding mechanism, and dials for thread tension and presser foot pressure.
And there’s more! The slide-off bed tray unveils the second storage area, ideal for special quilting feet like the darning foot and walking foot. And let’s not forget the 1/4″ patchwork foot. Basically, this machine ensures you have everything you need, neatly stored away.
For those who are all about quilting and can do without the embroidery or hundreds of stitches, the Elna 6003 Q Quilter’s Dream should be on your radar. Though it might be a challenge to find this brand new, a little treasure hunt on platforms like ebay.com might just land you this beauty for less than $500 – a steal for such quality!
